O
'Out of place'
one person exhibition
You can never successfully remove someone violently from a place they belong, because you cannot erase the gap they leave behind. Exploring the nature of absence, I have designed and created an installation consisting of sculptural objects and paintings for the particular space of The Leper Chapel in Cambridge, as a response and a tribute to the early history of the place and to those who had been cast out socially, as well as to all those who have been exiled or refused entry or transported or removed from sight. The exhibition will offer an immersive experience in which you can move around and among the sculptural figures of the installation, simultaneously seeing the paintings from different angles and points of view, gaining a sense of the Chapel as populated.
On Saturday and Sunday, performances designed for the particular exhibition by in situ: emphasising and exploring the human voice, will add to the experience.
